Today, we will celebrate Harrison Archer. Six years ago, God brought a little boy into this world who would change our family forever. He was my first grandchild, the one who made up my name, “Aga”! He gave all of us a new reason to laugh louder, love deeper, and believe even more fully in the goodness of God.

On his birthday, I am thankful for the way he runs, explores, imagines, asks a thousand questions, and gives the biggest hugs. He reminds me that every day is a gift and that joy often wears Crocs and has a chocolate milk mustache.

But today, we also hold a very special prayer in our hearts, for his mommy, Megan, and his soon-to-arrive baby brother, August. (Just five more days!) We know this has been a hard time, full of extra doctor visits and careful watching. So, while we eat cake and sing for Harry this afternoon, we also whisper prayers for August’s safe arrival, and for Megan’s health, wellness, strength, and peace, as well as for Daddy (Austin) and the boys, too.

Harry is already a wonderful big brother to Oliver (although like all brothers, they have their moments) and we know he will be just as amazing to August. God made Harry to be kind and strong, gentle and brave. He has a very compassionate heart for a six year-old boy. I’ve told him several times over the past few weeks that like his heart is big enough to love our whole family, God’s heart is even bigger and holds all of us, especially the ones we worry about.

So today, as we celebrate six whole years of Harry, we also trust the Lord with everything ahead.

Dear God, thank You for Harry. Thank You for six years of life, love, and laughter. Please bless him as he grows and help him to be wise and kind, brave and joyful. We also lift up Megan and baby August. Hold them close. Protect them. Let Your peace rest over all of our hearts, and Your hand guide every step in the days to come. We trust You, and we thank You for being so good to our family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
