Ollie, the Moon, and God’s Big Plans

By

Every time our grandson, Oliver, spends the night, there’s one tradition we try not to skip: looking up at the moon and stars together. This tradition actually started with his big brother, Harry, but while it’s less of an excitement to the more mature nearly 6 year-old, Ollie is enthralled. Pajamas on and wide-eyed Ollie points at the sky with pure wonder, asking questions like, “Is that star big as me?” or “Do astronauts drink ‘cholcky’ (chocolate) milk?”

For his birthday, Jeff found him a little NASA space suit. You’ve never seen a more adorable astronaut. (I included a photo to prove my point.) To Ollie, space isn’t just “up there”, it’s a world of adventure, discovery, and imagination. You should see him at home with his spaceship and all of his space toys! We don’t know who our curious, bright-eyed Ollie will grow up to be. He’s only 3. Maybe he’ll be a scientist, a teacher, or maybe someone who just really loves the moon. But one thing we do know: with God, anything is possible.

The Bible reminds us in Luke 1:37, “For nothing is impossible with God.” That means even the biggest dreams, moon landings, or something entirely different, are not too far when we walk with God.

So whether Ollie becomes an astronaut or simply someone who always remembers to look up, we pray we can lead all of our grandchildren to keep their eyes on God’s promises. After all, the One who hung the stars also has a plan for them (and for each of us) that’s bigger and brighter than we can imagine.

What dream (or star 🌟 😉) has God placed in your heart? No matter your age or stage, trust that God can do more than you think possible.

What a darling astronaut!! We love the heavens too! Hopefully, there will be clear skies to see the Perseids meteor showers coming soon! Aaron and I just saw “Elio” in the theater. It is SO cute!
