Living with Integrity

By

Integrity isn’t just about doing the right thing when others are watching. It’s about being the same person in private that you are in public. In a culture that often rewards shortcuts, image, and convenience over character, integrity can seem old-fashioned. But in God’s eyes, it’s a non-negotiable.

The Hebrew word for “integrity” carries the idea of wholeness or completeness. It means our actions, thoughts, and words align. No pretending. No double lives. Just a steady, honest walk that reflects God’s heart.

We see a powerful example of integrity in Genesis with Joseph. He was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and ended up serving in the house of a high-ranking Egyptian official, Potiphar. Though life had been unfair to him, Joseph remained faithful and hardworking and he quickly gained Potiphar’s trust.

But Joseph was tested. Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him. Joseph was alone, with no one around to see what he would do. He could have easily given in and justified it—but instead, he resisted, saying, “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9). He chose integrity, even though it cost him dearly. He was falsely accused and thrown into prison. Still, God honored Joseph’s character, and in time, elevated him to a position of great influence.

Joseph’s story shows us that integrity isn’t always immediately rewarded, but it is always noticed by God. It’s often in private decisions, when no one is watching, that our character is truly formed.❤️
