“Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” – Psalm 81:10
Last night, Jeff snapped this picture of the baby robins in the nest, perched on the light above our back door. Their tiny heads poked above the twigs, mouths open wide, waiting expectantly. They weren’t anxious or afraid. They didn’t worry about where their next meal would come from. They just waited, trusting that mama bird would return with what they needed.
What a simple, striking picture of faith.
God invites us to live the same way: expectantly, trustingly, with our hearts open wide toward Him. “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it,” He says. But how often do we approach Him with hesitation or half-closed hearts, trying to carry everything ourselves?
The baby birds don’t pretend they’re self-sufficient. Their open mouths declare a total dependence and total trust. That’s the posture God wants from us. When we come to Him in humility and expectancy, He delights to fill us…with His Word, His presence, His provision, and His peace.
Today, be like those baby robins. Lift your head. Open your heart. And trust that your Father sees, knows, and will provide.
