“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Change can be a strong force that unexpectedly impacts our lives. Whether it’s a new job, new location, changing relationships, or losing something or someone important, changes can make us feel uncertain. We may wonder, “Why is this happening?” or “How will I handle this?”

During these moments, it can be tempting to rely on our own understanding—to try to control the outcome or seek answers based on our limited perspective. But Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us that trusting in God’s plan is far more reliable than leaning on our own limited vision. God’s ways and purposes are greater than our own, even when the path seems unclear.

When life changes, God invites us to lean on Him, trusting that He is in control. Some exciting things are happening in our lives right now. Jeff and I are very excited to see what God has in store for us. This week in each of my morning devotions, I have been reminded that God is in control and I do not need to worry about the details. Trusting in God means surrendering our worries and anxieties to Him. It involves letting go of the need to understand every detail and instead embracing the peace that comes with knowing God holds our future. If we are listening for and relying on God, we have no need to worry, because God is in control and we can be sure of the following truths:

God is unchanging – While our circumstances shift and life takes unexpected turns, God remains the same. Hebrews 13:8 tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” When everything feels uncertain, we can anchor ourselves in His unchanging character.

God is present in every season – No matter what change you’re facing, God is with you through it. Psalm 23:4 assures us, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” He walks with us through every transition, comforting and guiding us.

God is working all things for good – Even when we don’t see it, God is at work in all things. Romans 8:28 encourages us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Trusting God means believing that He is using every change, even the hard ones, to shape us into who He wants us to be.

God is faithful and I am so excited to see what He has in store for Jeff and I in the coming months. Stay tuned!
