Have you ever read a passage in the Bible (maybe one you’ve seen a dozen times before) and it jumps off the page in a whole new way? Suddenly, it’s as if the words are alive, speaking directly into your situation! That’s not just coincidence, it’s the power of the living Word of God.
The Bible isn’t just a history book or a collection of wise sayings. It’s alive. It breathes. It speaks. God uses it to meet us where we are… not just once, but again and again, in every season of life.
When I was in the deepest valley of grief, I found comfort in Scripture. When I’ve been unsure of my path, I’ve received direction from the Bible. Just this week, celebrating the birth of my grandson and my daughter’s successful surgery, in Scripture, I reflected on joyful language to praise God. When I’m stuck in sin, God’s Word lovingly convicts and calls me back.

This is why daily Bible reading is so important. It’s not about checking off a religious box. It’s about opening ourselves to hear from God each day. Just like we need food to nourish our physical bodies, we need God’s Word to nourish our souls.
Jesus Himself said in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” When we neglect the Word, we slowly starve our spiritual lives, but when we engage with it daily, we find strength, wisdom, peace, and clarity.
Here’s the truly beautiful thing I find over and over: no matter how many times I’ve read a verse, the Holy Spirit can reveal something brand new when I come to it with fresh eyes and an open heart. What comforted us in the past may challenge us today. What convicted us before might encourage us now. Do you know why? God’s Word doesn’t change, but we do.
So today, open your Bible… even if you’re tired, even if you’re busy, even if you feel like you already know what it says. Let God meet you in His Word, right where you are (wherever you are).
