Saturday Morning: One Step at a Time

By

It’s Saturday morning. Is your to-do list overwhelming today? For me, this weekend is full of both potential and pressure. While I’m looking forward to a few special things in these two days, there’s also laundry and house cleaning, errands to run, emails to catch up on, seminary work I’m behind in, and my home office still looks like it has been ransacked.

But before we even start looking at our lists this morning, let’s pause. Breathe.

We weren’t created to carry the entire list at once. God doesn’t ask us to sprint through the day in a frenzy, checking boxes like it’s a race to earn peace. His peace is already ours, thankfully, and… not just after the chores are done, but in the middle of them, too.

We often treat our to-do lists like a measure of our worth. If we finish everything, we feel accomplished. If we fall short, we feel like we’ve failed. But that’s not how God sees us.

He never asked us to do it all, only to do what we can, with the heart we have. Some days, that might look like a clean kitchen, folded laundry, and a dinner plan. Other days, it might just be making the bed and reheating leftovers… with grace.

What matters isn’t how much gets done, but how we show up in it… with love, with effort, with the understanding that our value doesn’t come from finished lists, but from being deeply known and loved by God.

So whether you cross off five things or just one today, let it be enough. You’re doing your best, and God honors that. God sees your heart, not your output.

P.S. Yesterday, our new low-profile box spring was delivered. (Yes, it’s amazing. No, I don’t need a step stool to get into bed anymore.) The step stool is now back in the kitchen because, as it turns out, I still can’t reach the top shelves in my cabinets. 😉
