“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me, the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” – Acts 20:24
Today I’m heading out for something new, a weekend at R.O.C.K., a Christian camp for teens. This will be my first time serving as a pastor at one of these weekends, and to be honest, I don’t know exactly what to expect. I’ve heard the stories…how God moves, how hearts are stirred, how lives are changed. But this time, I won’t be hearing about it secondhand. I’ll be there. And that fills me with anticipation, humility, and JOY.
This morning’s You Version verse of the day, Acts 20:24, locked in my heart as a theme for the next 60 hours (yes, my whole life, but a good focus for the weekend.)
The apostle Paul, on his way to Jerusalem, knew hardship awaited him. But that didn’t change his focus. His life wasn’t about comfort or control, it was about the call. His “only aim” was to finish the race and complete the task Jesus gave him: to share the good news of God’s grace.
That resonates deeply with me right now. I may not know the full schedule this weekend. I don’t know every prospector I’ll meet or every story I’ll hear. But I do know the task God has set before me: to testify to His grace. To show up, to love well, and to point to Jesus.
So if you don’t see blog entries from me the next two mornings, know that it’s because I’m out in the field, living the story instead of writing it—at least for a moment. My heart is wide open for whatever God wants to do at R.O.C.K. And my prayer is that His grace flows freely through every conversation, every session, and every quiet moment.
This isn’t about me. This is about finishing the race, faithfully running the course marked out by Jesus, and completing the task He’s entrusted to me this weekend.
