Monday Morning Mercies

By

Let’s be honest: Monday morning isn’t always met with applause. The first words out of Jeff’s mouth each week are usually, “Monday already?”

Is it just me or are Monday morning alarms a little louder? It seems the coffee can’t brew fast enough, and the to-do list for the week likes to taunt us before we even brush our teeth. But tucked inside every Monday morning is a quiet miracle, a brand new start.

God didn’t design Mondays to be miserable. In fact, He’s the one who invented mornings. And according to Lamentations 3:22-23, each new one comes preloaded with fresh mercy. Not recycled grace, not leftover patience, but brand-new compassion from the heart of God.

So, if you’re feeling groggy, grumpy, or just plain “not ready,” take heart. The same God who conquered the grave can help you conquer whatever is on your to-do list today. He’s not waiting for you to have it all together before you meet with Him. He’s walking beside you, sleepy eyes and all.

Let’s thank God for Mondays, even the hard ones. We can ask Jesus to help us start this day without grumbling, but with gratitude, to fill us with joy, and guide us through whatever tasks are ahead of us today.

Smile at the day ahead. Or at least squint at it kindly over your coffee mug. You’ve got this. And more importantly, God’s got you.
