We often hear the empowering phrase, “You can do anything.” And it’s true, through Christ, we are capable of incredible things. But there’s a quiet, necessary truth that really needs to follow that: You can do anything, but not everything.
Romans 12:4-5 says, “Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
God didn’t design us to carry the whole world on our shoulders. He created us to live in community, to need one another, and to function as parts of a whole. Each of us has unique gifts, callings, and strengths. That means we are not supposed to do it all, and that’s not a weakness. It’s wisdom.
If you’re tired today, not just in body but in spirit, know that even Jesus took time to rest. He stepped away from the crowds, withdrew to quiet places, and made space to simply be with the Father. You are not failing by needing rest. You are following the example of Christ.
Maybe you’ve been trying to do more than what God has asked of you. Maybe you’re carrying burdens that were never yours to begin with. Hear this: God doesn’t expect you to do it all. He expects you to trust Him, to walk with Him, and to lean on the people He’s placed around you.
So…what are you doing right now that might not be yours to carry? Are you allowing others to use their gifts, or are you trying to do it all yourself?
Let’s thank God today for giving us the ability to do great things, thank Him for the freedom to rest, ask for some wisdom to discern what it is that God has truly called us to do, and to let go of anything outside of that. Happy Saturday! 😊
