This morning, I’m especially thankful for sleep… peaceful, restorative rest that only God can truly give. In the quiet of night, He watched over me. I woke up reminded that I’m held in His care. Psalm 4:8 says, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

I’m also thankful for the healing and help I received yesterday. After a dental appointment, the issue with my tooth started to ease. I have an antibiotic and a rinse to use for a couple weeks to clear an infection and hopefully will be good-to-go. What was really amazing to me was in the afternoon at my PT appointment with Dr. Bridget Johnson (see the post on my personal Facebook page on March 27 for more information on her work.) I told her about the toothache when I got there a few hours after the dental appointment. Bridget knew the few places along my spine that connected to nerves for my teeth. When I left that one hour appointment,  I had great relief! That may seem like a small thing to some, but for me, it was a clear sign of God’s provision. He cares about the details of our lives, even our discomfort and pain. He hears our prayers and meets our needs in His perfect timing.

And now, just two days left in this job, this chapter is nearly closed. I feel the pull between closure and anticipation. But Isaiah 58:11 says, “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.” God guides us. He doesn’t just lead us into new places; He strengthens us for the journey.

This morning, I’m thankful for rest, for healing, for the way God shows up in the details of our lives, even in something as simple (or significant) as dental and physical therapy appointments. As I walk through these last two days of work, I pray that gratitude leads me. I trust that God is preparing me for what’s next, and I know that His plans are good.
